NTUST’s Relationships with Regional NGOs and Government for SDG Policy

In pursuing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) in particular, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST, Taiwan Tech) builds long-term collaboration and policy links with government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities through the Ministry of Education’s University Social Responsibility (USR) programme and through local and international practice. The university also supports its faculty in taking up roles in national government bodies and regional NGOs. NTUST faculty currently serve as convener of a Ministry of Environment strategic alliance, President of the government-endowed Taiwan Construction Research Institute, principal investigators of Ministry of Education and NSTC international programmes, and chairpersons or board directors of NGOs including the Association of National Universities of Science and Technology, the Taiwan Intelligent Net-Zero Building Industry Alliance, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Operations Research Society of Taiwan.

  • MOENV alliance convener: Prof. Tsai-Chi Kuo (Dept. of Industrial Management) is Convener of the Retail Product Packaging Circular Sustainability Strategic Alliance set up by the Resource Circulation Administration, Ministry of Environment (MOENV), on 12 December 2025. The alliance brings together 23 manufacturers, packaging suppliers, importers, retailers and trade associations, supports the drafting of the Guidelines for Circular and Sustainable Retail Product Packaging, and runs a public–private implementation mechanism. At MOENV’s October 2026 packaging-reduction event, ten member companies displayed 350 green-packaged products in 61 categories, aiming to exceed 1,000 products within two years in line with the national target of a 10% cut in packaging by 2035.
